Dream Weaver Mesh Shorts

Read the Story:

Or feel free to skip straight to the pattern. It won’t hurt my feelings!

Embark on a dreamy journey with these comfortable mesh shorts. Inspired by the same stitch pattern as the Dream Weaver Tank Top, these shorts embody the simple yet stunning style of mesh using the four basic crochet stitches we all learned when we began our crochet adventure - single, half double, double, and treble crochet.

The construction of these shorts is meant to be the simplest possible, working top-down starting with a waistband and drawstring, increasing to shape around the hips, and a basic split to form the two legs - no seaming required!

But there’s more…

What could be dreamier than stylish clothing tailored to your exact body? Why, absolutely nothing, of course! As such, the Dream Weaver shorts are an experimental design where instead of providing graded sizes as with a traditional pattern, I provide you the calculations needed to create a perfect custom fit. Simply plug in your own measurements along the way, and the stitch and row counts will magically match your size.

So what are you waiting for? Take your first step into this enchanting dreamscape and be rewarded with your next favorite piece of loungewear.

Finished Sizes

Instructions will be given in a format using your personal measurements.

The hip will have 2” (5cm) of positive ease.

The leg will have 1” (2.5cm) of positive ease.

Gauge

Mesh

16 chain spaces = 6.25” (16cm)

8 rows of the mesh pattern = 3” (7.5cm)

Ribbing

30 single crochets worked in back loops = 4” (10cm)

21 rows = 4” (10cm)

It is highly recommended to work a gauge swatch. Mesh is naturally stretchy and flexible, so gauge can be variable. The goal is to achieve a drapey mesh fabric rather than a stiff, thick fabric, so you may need to experiment a few times with hook sizes and yarn to achieve the mesh drape.

If you can’t meet both stitch and row gauge, it is more important to match chain space gauge in the mesh and row gauge in the ribbing.
