Mesh Shorts

Inspired by my Wave Strider Mesh Tank Top pattern, these shorts take a simple mesh pattern of basic crochet stitches - single, half double, double, treble, double treble, and triple treble - and form a hypnotic fabric that is both comfortable and stylish.

Now for the important details!

These shorts are designed to be made-to-measure, so I'm not looking for specific sizes. I've written instructions for both inches and centimeters. Testers will be selected to test inches or centimeters - you will not need to do both.

Hooks: US F/5 (3.75mm) or any hook to obtain gauge | US D/3 (3.25mm) for waistband
Yarn: Twisted Ambitions Sweet Sock | 75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon | Fingering Weight | 463yd (423m) per 3.5oz (100g) skein

You will also need a small amount of worsted weight yarn in a different color to create the drawstring.

Yarn Quantities

Because these shorts are designed to be made-to-measure, yarn amounts will vary, but I provide a guidance chart in the pattern for general advice on yarn quantity. It will range between 760-1740 yards (695-1590 meters) for standard waist sizes between 24-61" (60-155cm).

Notions: scissors, tapestry needle, measuring tape, 2-3 stitch markers, blocking mats and pins, calculator, cord maker (like a lucet fork, knitting mill, or latch hook tool)
Challenge Level: Intermediate
Deadline: June 28, 2026

If this sounds like a test you'd be interested in, please feel free to apply!
