Or feel free to skip straight to the pattern. It won’t hurt my feelings!
When I began my crochet journey, I had so many dreams of making beautiful and fun items - and I imagine you’re no different. From the moment we learned our first chain to the frustrations of awkwardly maneuvering the yarn into our first single and double crochet, we have pushed forward in hopes of achieving those dreams.
Well, congratulations because now is the chance for you to transform those dreams into reality with the Dream Weaver Tank Top. This tank is inspired by the excitement all of us crocheters had when we first put hook to yarn and started wrapping, looping, weaving (and yes, even frogging) our many projects.
To capture this excitement, I designed this tank to incorporate the four basic stitches - single, half double, double, and treble crochet - and showcase their individual beauty as well as the stunning harmony they exude together in a flexible, drapey mesh fabric.
Let your mind wander as you weave your dreams into each of these simple stitches and have a perfect lightweight tank top to sport all summer long.

Materials & Pattern Information
Yarn | Aunt Lydia’s Crochet Thread Fashion 3 100% Mercerized Cotton Category 1 | Fingering Weight | 21 WPI 150yd (137m) per ball (see size chart for quantities needed) The pictured version used a discontinued yarn - Berroco Mykonos Stonewash “Clear Sky” - so I remade a version using the above yarn. |
Hook | US E/4 (3.5mm) or any hook needed to achieve gauge Recommended hooks: Clover Amour, Tulip Etimo |
Notions | Yarn Needle, Scissors, Stitch Markers*, Blocking Mats, Blocking Pins *Optional for holding panels together while seaming and to mark first/last stitches of each row. |
Challenge Level | Easy: Some knowledge of basic stitches. Techniques included: single, half double, double, and treble crochet; decreasing/basic garment shaping and seaming. |
Finished Sizes | Instructions for each size will be presented in the following format: XS (S, M, L, 1X) (2X, 3X, 4X, 5X) This tank top is designed to have between 1-4” (2.5-10 cm) of negative ease for a fitted look. It’s always a good idea to go through the entire pattern first to circle or highlight the instructions for the size you’re working. *If only one value is given in an instruction, it applies to all sizes. If you see “-” or “x” in your size’s place, do not follow those instructions. |
Gauge | 12 chain spaces = 4” (10cm) 8 rows of the mesh pattern = 3.5” (8.75cm) *It is highly recommended to work a gauge swatch. Mesh is naturally stretchy and flexible, so gauge can be variable. The goal is to achieve a drapey mesh fabric rather than a stiff, thick fabric, so you may need to experiment a few times with hook sizes and yarn to achieve the mesh drape. |
